Parameter characterization of HTPEMFC using numerical simulation and genetic algorithms

This paper develops a novel approach to the parameterisation of high temperature exchange membrane fuel cells (HTPEMFC) with limited and non-invasive measurements. The proposed method allows an effective identification electrochemical parameters for three-dimensional cell models by combining computational simulation tools genetic algorithms. To avoid each evaluation undertaken optimisation involving complete 3D model, strategy has been designed that, thanks iterative process, makes it possible decouple fluid dynamic resolution from electrochemistry one. Two have incorporated into these describe behaviour catalyst layer, Butler-Volmer spherical aggregate. For one, case study carried out validate results comparing them empirical data in first model generated numerical second.
